An Lanntair gig!

2/5/2022

MÒRAN TAING

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to last night’s gig in An Lanntair. It was a surreal, emotional and amazing experience to be back performing to a live audience.

My thanks goes to those at An Lanntair for this great opportunity (a special mention to Calum Fraser) and to Anna-Wendy and Simon from BA Applied Music UHI for their continued support and encouragement. A very special thanks to fellow musicians, Allan Henderson and Emilia Marienfeld who I was absolutely delighted to be sharing the stage with last night.  last night’s gig would not have been possible without them!

I decided to dedicate my performance last night to Michey’s Dad, Calum Beag MacRury who sadly passed away last month. Performing my last song of the night in his memory was a truly overwhelming and powerful feeling and experience that I cannot put into words. He is so missed by us…

Mòran taing dhuibh uile a-rithist.

Bha e cho math a bhith a bruidhinn ri Niall Iain an-diugh mu dheidhinn an cùrsa ciùil a rinn mi aig UHI agus beagan chat mu dheidhinn an consairt agam a-nochd aig An Lanntair. Dòchas gu faic mi ann sibh!
Great to catch up with Niall Iain this afternoon - lots of chat about UHI’s BA Applied Music course and my own concert tonight at An Lanntair at 8pm. Hope to see you all there!

COMMUNITY MUSIC

10/3/2022

Lovely to come across this photo from last month’s cèilidh for Tagsa Uibhist clients. It is great getting the young people from Sgoil Lionacleit involved in these events and even better for them to witness first hand the benefits and impact of music therapy and community music learning.

Getting to run events such as this reminds me every single day why I love this community and what I do so much.

Madainn mhath bho Uibhist a Deas!

5/3/2022

I’ve been busy this morning recording footage for some new material I’ve written. The council’s Multimedia Unit asked me to write a selection of Gaelic songs for children to learn and this morning I’ve been recording some video footage to go along with it. It’s been lots of fun writing these songs and I hope to share them on here at some point soon.

EMERGING SCOTS IN LONDON

15/2/2022

Great to be part of Emerging Scots In London this evening hosted by the Scottish Business Network. Lovely to be invited along with Anna-Wendy Stevenson as part of their panel tonight to give a brief insight into my journey since graduating from the Applied Music course with the University of the Highlands and Islands. It was great to share my perspective as an alumna on the importance of remaining connected with UHI and the Applied Music community/family. #appliedmusic #uhi #thinkuhi @appliedmusicuhi @thinkuhi

“Where words fail, music speaks.”

29/1/2022

We had the loveliest afternoon yesterday spent playing music for clients at Tagsa Uibhist. I was there with two hats on yesterday - with my own music and also supporting pupils from Sgoil Lionacleit through my role in the school. Great to be working in partnership with Chris on this intergenerational and collaborative project. Huge thanks to the staff at Tagsa and to Doireann and Fern for sharing their music. Looking forward to next month’s cèilidh already!

TAIGH CIÙIL

3/12/2021

Tonight was my first live gig since Covid and it felt so so nice to be back performing again. Thank you to every single one of you who came along tonight to show your support and a huge thanks to Taigh Chearsabhagh for inviting me along. The most special thank you goes to my good friend, Emilia Marienfeld for her beautiful accompaniment tonight - an absolute star.  Home now with my four legged baby who is happy to have her Mam home after I’ve neglected her all week rehearsing!

Mòran taing dhuibh uile - tha mi dòchas gum faic mi sibh a dh’ aithghearr!
