Kildonan Ceilidhs
Kildonan Ceilidhs is a community event that Chloe set up to help revive, promote and celebrate the ceilidh tradition in South Uist. Chloe's passion for her culture and community has allowed this event to become a very well attended monthly occurrence. If you ever take a trip to Uist be sure to look out for this event! Chloe is extremely grateful for the continued support she receives from the staff at Kildonan Museum. Please see link to the museum's website: https://kildonanmuseum.co.uk/ Uibhist mo Ruin Chloe released her first CD in 2018. This features local songs from Uist and includes her own compositions on the Highland bagpipes. Bann nam Baghasdal In 2019, Chloe made her own film documentary, "Bann nam Baghasdal", showcasing the strong bond between two townships in South Uist and Cape Breton. Chloe travelled over to Cape Breton to record the footage and enjoyed playing music at KitchenFest all over the island. This film captures the stories and lives of ordinary people and their tradition and highlights the key elements that Chloe strongly values as a community musician. This project would not have been possible without the help and support of Keith Morrison at Wee Studio, feel free to find Keith on Facebook under "Wee Studio". Chloe enjoys delivering weekly classes for her local Feis. She is lucky to have a great support from the committee and the local Museum where the classes are held every week. Chloe encourages her young pupils to perform at her monthly ceilidhs which is proving to be a great success for everyone involved! You can find information on Chloe's classes on Facebook under, "Clasaichean le Chloe". Chloe has been involved in many events both locally and internationally. In 2017 Chloe was involved in a cultural exchange programme in Asturias, Northern Spain led by Simon Bradley and Anna-Wendy Stevenson. This was a truly life changing project for Chloe to be involved in as it allowed her to value and appreciate her own culture on a deeper level. Chloe has also worked for TrixPix Media, providing Gaelic narration for their 3 part documentary, "'San fhuil", which featured on BBC Alba. This is another area where Chloe has gained much experience and knowledge. Follow this link to see more of TrixPix Media's great work: https://trixpixmedia.com/ Chloe has also done some work with Gaelic arts organisation, Feis Rois. In 2019 Chloe was offered the chance to go to Romania to teach music to deaf and blind children and to play at a charity ball for the charity closely linked with Feis Rois, "Light into Europe". Chloe also featured in one of the organisation's short film projects, "Kin and the Community". Follow this link to see more of Feis Rois incredible work: https://www.feisrois.org/ |
